Hello again, and I am praying you have had a wonderful week and a fantastic Friday!
Chances are you remember where you were and what you were doing around 9 am, 25 years ago TODAY (September 11, 2001).
Of course, that's when two planes (one at 8:46 am and the second at 9:03 am) crashed into the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center, unleashing the 9/11 terrorist attacks on America.
That was certainly a frightening day. There were many questions. Who were the perpetrators? Would there be more attacks? How would our country respond?
The BEST way any nation or individual can respond to a crisis is to SEEK the HELP of the Lord!
We see this illustrated beautifully in God's word!
In many of the Psalms, the writer "cries out" to the Lord as his life and/or community lies in ruins.
Listen to the Psalmist in Psalms 102:1-2, 6-8, 12, 15, 17:
[1] Hear my prayer, Lord; let my cry for help come to you. [2] Do not hide your face from me when I am in distress. Turn your ear to me; when I call, answer me quickly.
[6] I am like a desert owl, like an owl among the ruins. [7] I lie awake; I have become like a bird alone on a roof. [8] All day long my enemies taunt me; those who rail against me use my name as a curse.
[12] But you, Lord, sit enthroned forever; your renown endures through all generations.
[15] The nations will fear the name of the Lord, all the kings of the earth will revere your glory.
[17] He will respond to the prayer of the destitute; he will not despise their plea.
When a huge army came against him, the King of Judah, Jehoshaphat, didn't panic. Instead, he proclaimed a fast and a massive prayer meeting of the entire land. We read about it in 2 Chronicles 20:3-6, 9: [3] Alarmed, Jehoshaphat resolved to inquire of the Lord, and he proclaimed a fast for all Judah. [4] The people of Judah came together to seek help from the Lord; indeed, they came from every town in Judah to seek him. [5] Then Jehoshaphat stood up in the assembly of Judah and Jerusalem at the temple of the Lord in the front of the new courtyard [6] and said: “Lord, the God of our ancestors, are you not the God who is in heaven? You rule over all the kingdoms of the nations. Power and might are in your hand, and no one can withstand you. [9] If calamity comes upon us, whether the sword of judgment, or plague or famine, we will stand in your presence before this temple that bears your Name and will cry out to you in our distress, and you will hear us and save us."
As we look around our nation today, we see many messes.
Many lives are in turmoil, and many churches are closing their doors. God, however, has the power to rebuild people, lives, and places of faith in this land. But we need to LOOK to Him and Call on His NAME!
Lord, we cry out to you to rebuild the church in this nation. Please pour out Your Holy Spirit upon us again and on our nation. We pray for REVIVAL like what You did here in Kentucky at Cane Ridge 225 years ago!
