A Month for Missions
November 15, 2024, 6:00 PM
Greetings in Christ!
I hope and pray you've had a good week.

It's a "November to Remember" with a strong emphasis on Missions here at FCC this month!

Our 2nd Annual Missions Day was held at FCC last Sunday, November 10th. It was a great success!
Michael Hawkins who serves as the Director of Development for the International Conference On Missions (ICOM) was our speaker for the 10:30 am worship service. He did an outstanding job!
In total, we had SEVEN different missions/organizations represented this past Sunday at FCC. We want to THANK the following for coming and participatingAssurance for Life (Heather Mitchell), ICOM (Michael Hawkins)Kentucky Christian University (Doug Martin)Mission Journeys (Wayne King)Sayre Christian Village (Chris Sparks), Scatter Joy Ministries (Wally & Barbara Rendel)and Delight Ministries (Kylie Lawson).
It is indeed a privilege to partner with these and other great ministries as we strive to share the amazing love of Jesus Christ with our community and the world!

As you are reading this, the 76th meeting of ICOM - the International Conference On Missions - is already underway. In fact, this year's ICOM is being held in our city of Lexington, KY, from November 14-16, 2024 at Rupp Arena/Central Bank Center.
ICOM exists to encourage, equip, and enlist workers for a spiritual harvest as well as help people all over the globe in humanitarian causes. The conference began for missionaries but, over the years, has grown to include thousands of people of all ages who are interested and involved in world missions.
In recent years, there has been a rise in the number of college students attending ICOM
We will be hosting a group of 19 students from Central Christian College of the Bible in Moberly, MO, this weekend. Our goal is to provide housing and help them be able to afford attending the conference. This conference is important for them as many are seeking the Lord's direction for a calling in their lives. I believe that many folks will find an organization to partner with and work with at this conference here in Lexington this week. Please pray for these and many other students attending!
What about you? Are you going?
You are already registered. FCC has registered everyone who attends. Simply go to the registration booth outside of Rupp Arena and tell them your name and that you are with First Christian Church/Lexington, KY. Therefore, get out and attend a session or all of them! You will not be disappointed.

This coming Sunday, November 17th, we will have a very special speaker at FCC. Denford Chizanga, founder and director of the Africa Development Mission will share with us.

Since 2003, ADM has been planting churches and is currently operating in parts of Zimbabwe, as well as in the neighboring countries of Zambia, Malawi, and Mozambique. FCC has been supporting Denford and ADM since the start of 2023. FCC gave $1,000 at last year's Missions Day to help ADM start a new church in the country of Malawi. The church - Mt. Zion Christian Church - has officially launched this past month (October 2024) and is doing very well. The church is located at the edge of the city of Blantyre. Blantyre is the commercial and industrial capital of Malawi with a population of just over 800,000.

Also with us on this coming Sunday, will be the students from Central Christian College of the BIble. Please watch for them and make them feel welcome. Several of the students will be participating in our worship service.

Wow -- that's some great stuff taking place!

I pray you will take part in some of it and hope to see you at FCC on Sunday!

God bless,
Greg H.
