We believe Jesus gave the church a healthy and balanced model for doing mission work in Acts 1:8.
In this passage, Jesus tells his disciples, “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”
Jesus stresses that the Gospel is to be preached in places relatively close in proximity (the setting in Acts 1:8 is Jerusalem) as well as places nearby (Judea) and culturally different (Samaria) and finally to the “ends of the earth.”
