March is Here!
March 1, 2024, 5:00 PM

Greetings in Christ!
I hope and pray you've had a great week.
February was one day longer this year due to leap year. March, however, is now here!

We have a lot of positive things going on at FCC!
Men's prayer breakfast is tomorrow (03.02.24) at 9:00 am at the IHOP on Nicholasville Road.
Following the breakfast, we have a "Spring Cleaning" scheduled at church for 10:30 am-12 noon.
In addition, our Spring Ladies' Bible Study begins this Sunday (03.03.24) at 5 pm.
The study will join author Lisa Harper in a Bible study of the Gospel of Luke. Luke's Gospel is a masterpiece that doesn't celebrate the elite, but embraces the outliers, outcasts, and overlooked!
I am currently working on a Men's Bible Study to meet at the same time as the Ladies' study on Sunday nights. Please stay tuned for more information!

We've just started a sermon series called “Who’s Your Five?”

When Jesus began his earthly ministry, He picked some ordinary, everyday men to be on His team. Over the next few weeks and as we lead up to Easter, we’re going to look at some of those men.

We're also having a little fun with this as we will put them together to form a basketball team. After all, MARCH MADNESS is just around the corner!

I started the team a few weeks ago and so far we have established our backcourt with Andrew (Point Guard) and Peter (Shooting Guard).

Our next position to fill out is Small Forward.

The Small Forward (aka "the 3") is the most versatile player on the team. They often sacrifice their statistics to do the “little yet important” things on the basketball floor. If you see someone “take a charge” (when an offensive player makes significant contact with a defender that has an established position) during a game, more than likely it’s a Small Forward. Coaches often find that the Small Forwards are good at rebounding the basketball and they are usually one of the team’s toughest defenders against their opponent’s best shooters.

If I were to rank the top players ever in this position, I would rank LeBron James and Larry Bird as number one and two respectively. Jack "Goose" Givens, Kenny "Sky" Walker, and Jamal Mashburn are my favorite all-time Small Forwards to play for the University of Kentucky.

What about you? Do you have an all-time favorite?

Who will be our Small Forward? Come join us at FCC and find out!

Bible School starts @ 9:30 am - Worship @ 10:30 am.

God Bless,

Greg H
