Rise Up, O Men of God!
June 14, 2024, 4:00 PM
Greetings in Christ! I hope and pray you are doing well and have had a good week.

Two quick things to remember:
1) Don't forget to return your Baby Bottles filled with coins/bills/checks for Assurance this coming Sunday (June 16).
2) Brother Joe Cooper will be stepping away from his ministry with First Christian Church this coming week. He will teach one more time, however, on Wednesday, June 19 at FCC. Joe has done an excellent job leading the Wednesday night program for the past two years. I love Joe. His being here has taken a huge load off my shoulders by doing the Wednesday night teaching. It has allowed me to finish my college coursework and settle in as Lead Minister. Joe will continue preaching on Sunday mornings at Chaplin Christian Church (near Bardstown, KY). BTW - Joe was able to baptize 7 people into Christ there at Chaplin last Sunday! That is awesome!
I urge everyone to come out next Wednesday night, June 19 (meal @ 6 pm; Bible study @ 6:45 pm). We will have a basket ready for people to give a card of encouragement and/or a token of appreciation for Joe.

We thank you, Joe, for your eleven-plus years of ministry service to the Lord at First Christian Church.

With Father's Day coming up this Sunday, I've been thinking about my Dad and his discipline. Dad was the "DH" (Designated Hitter) in our family!
I never really begrudged it - I just respected it.
Discipline for children is not a popular thing today.
Proverbs 29:17 says, "Correct your son, and he will give you comfort; He will also delight your soul."
Hopefully, as Proverbs 29:17 says, I am bringing some comfort and delight to him in his later years. Delight for my Dad is me bringing Milk Shakes from McDonald's!
The concept of men leading is not very popular today either. It is, however, God's plan.
God has put men at the helm of the home and God has put men at the helm of the church as well.
Unfortunately, just like in many homes today, men are running away from the church in droves.
If, however, men are willing to assume their God-given roles in both the home and church, there is going to be success!
Here are FIVE simple ways men can make a difference in church:
    • Be there

    • Get involved in a ministry - don’t just sit there!

    • Support your minister, teachers, and leaders.

    • Pray for your ministers, leaders, and congregation

    • Tithe your income to your church

  1. Rise up, O men of God!
    Have done with lesser things;
Give heart and soul and mind and strength
To serve the King of kings.
  2.
Let us all be thankful for our earthly fathers and, most of all, our heavenly Father who hears our prayers and provides ALL we need!
We'd love to see you on Sunday at FCC as we honor our earthy Fathers and worship our almighty heavenly one.
Our Bible School starts at 9:30 am and Worship at 10:30 am.

God Bless,
Greg H.
