Greetings in Christ and I hope and pray you've had a good week so far.
I am very happy that we at First Christian Church stand with ministries like Assurance (assuranceforlife.org) in helping save lives of the unborn here in Central KY.
Once again this year, FCC is participating in their Baby Bottle Blessings program. Many congregations participate from Mother’s Day to Father’s Day, collecting change, bills and checks and putting them in baby bottles provided by Assurance. The bottles will be collected and turned into Assurance after Father's Day.
We only have a few weeks to go so I hope and pray you help as we help save lives of the unborn in Central KY?
BTW - Assurance projects they've helped save the lives of over 5,100 babies since 1985!
If you haven't already, pick up a bottle and bring it back filled with change, bills and checks! Will you join us at FCC as we stand for God and for LIFE?
In the United States alone, over 60 million babies have been killed since the 1973 Roe versus Wade case when the Supreme Court made the practice of abortion legal.
To put that number (60 million) in perspective, there are 53 million people in the nation of England. Canada has 35.5 million. What has the impact been?
Well, since 1973, I believe we've killed a lot of what would be today's workforce, consumers, producers, parents and taxpayers.
The economic impact alone can't be ignored. This might be God allowing America to "reap what it has sown."
I think Social Security and Medicare is just one example of this. According to the Social Security Administration website, the ratio of workers covered and paying into the system compared to those receiving benefits was around 4:1 in 1970. Today, that ratio is down to 3:1. At the current pace, we'll be down to 2:1 in less than 15-20 years.
Our political leaders talk a lot about how to fix Social Security so it will be there for generations to come.
Could all or at least part of that answer be to stop killing the unborn?
Maybe it's time for American to look to God again instead of doing things on their own (I'm just saying)!
Proverbs 14:12 - "There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way of death."
We will be hearing a lot about elections as we select a President later this year. While I am concerned about our country and I pray for our leaders, my HOPE is not riding on who is in the White House.
My HOPE is in Jesus Christ. I was reminded of this when I read the 146th Psalm earlier this week. Listen to verses 2-6:
I will praise the Lord all my life;
I will sing praise to my God as long as I live.
Do not put your trust in princes,
in human beings, who cannot save.
When their spirit departs, they return to the ground;
on that very day their plans come to nothing.
Blessed are those whose help is the God of Jacob,
whose hope is in the Lord their God.
He is the Maker of heaven and earth,
the sea, and everything in them.
He remains faithful forever.
We'd love to see you on Sunday at FCC.
Our Bible School starts at 9:30 am and Worship at 10:30 am.
Have a blessed day.
In Him,
Greg H.
