Greetings in Christ!
I hope this note finds you well.
"It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas...everywhere you go!"
It seems as if we've jumped directly from the fall right into the heart of winter!
It was a little surprising to wake up to the snow on the ground here in Central KY last Sunday.
The snow, however, hopefully filled folks with some "Christmas Spirit" and got them into the joy of the Holiday season.
There's something greater than the Spirit of the Holidays. That is the Birth of Jesus -- the REAL REASON for the SEASON.
As Christ followers, we must all remember that during this "most wonderful time of the year."
Here's a news flash: Christmas can be a very stressful time with many things taking place in a short period of time.
Yes, there will most likely be some STRESS for you this Christmas season. I just don't know who/what/where or the source of the STRESS.
During this Holiday season, we may be spending time with friends/relatives that we don't see very much throughout the year.
They may not see things we do and believe the things we do. Therefore, we need to be mindful and careful and watch out for the little things that might set someone or something off!
It's the little things in life, isn't it? A lot of the things that upset us and start fights are really little things to start with. They just get blown out of proportion when not properly dealt with.
I don't know about you, but when little things start getting to me, chances are that I am not where I need to be spiritually.
This year, let's try and not let the little things blow up into bigger things.
Let's be a good example of the Lord and the Holy Spirit. Since Christ is living IN US, we should be so unique that we'll stand out like a star in a dark night.
And if we do blow it, let's say sorry as soon as we can and move on.
I am currently preaching a series of messages called, "FOUR LITTLE WORDS for Christmas." My hope and prayer is that these words will help us stay "on track." These words are reminders of WHY. They are part of the reason WHY we celebrate Christmas.
Last Sunday (December 1st), we kicked things off with Word #1: "FAVOR." This coming Sunday (December 8th) we will have Word #2: "BLESSED."
I hope and pray to see you at FCC this Sunday.
May God continue to bless!
In Him,
Greg H.
