Greetings in Christ!
Happy Friday to you!
I pray that you and yours had a wonderful Thanksgiving.
Yesterday, and throughout the weekend, many are gathering to celebrate and give THANKS.
Let us, too, give THANKS to the Lord who gives us LIFE to the FULL. His perfect LOVE gives us a firm foundation to build our lives on.
It seems like it's becoming more and more popular to decorate and advertise "EARLY" for Christmas -- as early as October.
I don't like to do that. I like to give Thanksgiving its place and THEN turn the attention to Christmas.
With Thanksgiving behind us, let us look at the Christmas season and what's taking place at First Christian Church.
To kick off the Christmas season this Sunday, December 1st, Gregory Gage Faulkner will be providing some special Christmas music during our morning worship service.
Last week, he came by the church and he and Rafaelito Fraden (our worship minister) went into the auditorium to look over some things.
Gregory started singing and playing some of his music. Wow -- it was fantastic -- Gregory is a very talented musician with an incredible voice! I believe Rafaelito posted some of it on social media.
You don't want to miss this. It will be uplifting and encouraging!
Also this coming Sunday (12.01.24), I will begin a new sermon series called “FOUR LITTLE WORDS for Christmas.”
Christmas is a great time of the year. It can, however, be very stressful. There are so many things to do, presents to buy, meals to prepare, cards to write, and parties to attend.
If we aren't careful, Christmas can become too much WORK and not much FUN.
These "FOUR LITTLE WORDS" will hopefully help keep us focused on what the real meaning of Christmas is.
Here's the series outline and FOUR WORDS: 12.01.24 - FAVOR, 12.08.24 - BLESSED, 12.15.24 - SALVATION, 12.22.24 - JOY.
Also, here are some other important events and dates to put on your calendar:
Sunday, December 15 - Christmas Dinner immediately following our morning service.
Thursday, December 19 - Serving a MEAL to our area's homeless population in downtown Lexington, KY, at Lighthouse Ministries.
Sunday, December 22 - Christmas Cantata during our morning service.
Sunday, December 22 - Candlelight Christmas Service (7 pm)Don't forget that we have our annual Congregational Meeting immediately following our morning service.
I look forward to seeing you again soon!
In Him,
Greg H.
