Greetings and I hope and pray you are having a great week so far!
As I write this on the last day of October, we are getting ready to host a TRUNK or TREAT community outreach event tonight (10.31.24) at FCC.
From 6-8 pm tonight there will be cars, candy, chilli and an indoor maze here at the church. We'll move everything inside if it rains.
We'll be handing out a lot of candy tonight. Get ready teachers for some sugar-filled students on Friday, November 1st!
Speaking of giving -- As October ends and November begins, we are inching closer to the gift-giving holiday season.
What do we give to Jesus? What do we get the person who literally owns everything?
I think Jesus, more than anything, wants our hearts. By that, it would include all of our hope, life, and love.
What or Who do you have your hope placed in today?
Everyone is very interested in next week's Presidential election here in the United States. Many have their hopes for the future riding on the outcome.
The election is very important. Our hope, though, should be in something greater. Our hope should be in Jesus. He is the true Hope for the World!
Please keep our county in prayer as we get closer and closer to the elections - now less than one week away.
This coming Sunday (11.03.24), we will wrap up our series on the "Seven Churches of Revelation."
We'll close the series by looking at a church that had an OPEN DOOR -- the Church in Philadelphia.
What's next for Sunday mornings at First Christian?
You'll be hearing a lot about MISSIONS during the month of November at FCC.
Our 2nd Annual Missions Day is coming up on Sunday, November 10th. Michael Hawkins will be our speaker during the worship service that day. Michael serves as the Director of Development for the International Conference On Missions (ICOM). ICOM will be in Lexington, November 14-16.
We will have displays with information from all the missions that we at FCC support in the Fellowship Hall. We plan on having a combined Sunday School that day so we can have as our missionaries share about their work.
Denford Chizanga will preach at FCC the Sunday following ICOM, November 17. Denford, along with his wife Shingirirai, founded the Africa Development Mission in January 2002.
The mission was established out of a desire to present the saving message of Jesus Christ to those in Zimbabwe, Africa, and beyond and to train believers to be effective in their lives and ministry. Since 2003, ADM has been planting churches and is currently operating in parts of Zimbabwe, as well as in the neighboring countries of Zambia and Mozambique. FCC has been supporting Denford and ADM since the start of 2023.
Finally, do not forget to TURN YOUR CLOCKS BACK ONE HOUR Saturday night when you go to bed as Daylight Saving Time will be coming to an end for 2024!
May God bless you and I hope and pray to see you again very soon!
In Him,
Greg H.
