Greetings in Christ. I hope and pray you have had a good week!
Wow -- what a great Sunday (08.24.25) we had last week at FCC. Our Community Day was awesome!
We featured several of our community partners and involved them in the service. Brother Fred Mitchell gave an update on the Russell Cave Church of Christ, and some of the staff from Pine Meadows Nursing Home brought some special music. This was also the first Sunday with all of the students back on campus at the University of Kentucky. It was nice to have several of them back in church with us!
I'm looking forward to a great Fall here at FCC!
If there is ONE constant in life, it is that things WILL CHANGE over time.
Seasons change. Situations change. People change.
Today, with all the advancements in technology, change happens more frequently and at a much more rapid pace than ever.
Last Sunday, we looked at the life of a prophet and a great man of God named Daniel.
Daniel was a man who learned to follow God in spite of all the changes that took place in his life.
Daniel served several different kings over two empires over a long period of time. He is a great example of remaining faithful to God even while in a foreign and ungodly setting.
This coming Sunday, we will look at another prophet of God named Jonah. Jonah is very different from Daniel. Jonah was not able to move when God said it was time to move. Jonah resisted "getting in step with God."
Personally, I'm not a big fan of change. Sometimes change is actually for the better, but I rarely see it that way -- at least in the beginning.
No matter how much we resist, though, change is inevitable.
Fortunately, we do have at least one thing that is constant and never-changing in our lives.
God does not change.
An eternal, uncreated God made the universe and heavens, and does not need to perish or change as the things He created do.
Isn’t that a relief? God loves you and me. Period. We don’t have to earn His love. We don’t have to be worthy of it. And nothing you or I do or have done will keep God from loving you.
What a relief to know that our failings won’t keep us from the love of Christ. Nothing we can do will change His feelings for us. God even loves those people who don’t know Him or love Him back.
Jesus, thank you for never changing. I am so grateful that we can always count on you to be who you say you are.
May God bless, and I hope and pray we will see you this Sunday (08.31.25) at FCC!
Have a great Labor Day weekend.
In Him,
Greg H
