Greetings in Christ
I hope you've a tremendous week!
There are two goats used during the Day of Atonement ritual described in the Old Testament. One goat was led away from camp bearing all the people's sins -- this is where we get the term "scapegoat." The second goat was killed, and its blood was sprinkled on the atonement cover, tent of meeting and altar.
What Jesus did in the cross was an atonement for all of our sins. He fulfilled the purpose of both goats. Jesus died under the weight of our sins and God’s righteous wrath so that we might have forgiveness and have new life in him (1 Peter 2:24). Let's never forget that great blessing!
Here's another thing I hope you will not forget: this coming Sunday (May 11th) is Mother's Day!
Let's not forget to express our LOVE to the special women in our lives in some tangible way!
Like me, you are probably a child of many prayers and sacrifices. Why not be more like the type of person our mothers prayed for us to be.
Also, remember this: BEING a MOTHER is NOT EASY or for the FAINT of HEART!
I remember hearing about a TV reporter asking a mother of 12 this question: “If you could do it all over, would you have 12 children again?”
The mother replied quickly, “Sure! I just wouldn’t want the same 12.”
And I love what Erma Bombeck wrote, “If parenting or MOTHERHOOD was going to be easy, they would have never started with a world called LABOR.”
Biological Moms...Step Moms...Single Moms...Adopted Moms...Foster Moms...Grandmas raising their grandkids...and more...We love you and THANK you!
In fact, we will celebrate all ladies this Sunday (May 11th) during our 10:30 am worship service at First Christian Church.
Every lady in attendance will receive a special gift!
Also, this coming Sunday, we'll kick off our Baby Bottle Blessings program at FCC.
What exactly is this program?
This is a fun and easy way to support women and families in our community facing unplanned pregnancies.
How the campaign works: On Mother’s Day, take a baby bottle from the supply in the foyer, fill it with change, cash, or checks and return it on Father’s Day. Because of the money raised, Assurance can continue to offer no-cost medical services, emotional support, and practical help to families.
God bless and hope to see you soon -- maybe this Sunday at FCC!
In Him,
Greg H
