Happy Friday to you, and I pray you've had a good week so far.
During Christmas, we celebrate Jesus' coming to earth and His name, "Emmanuel," which means "God With Us."
One of the amazing things about Jesus coming to us is how close we come to God.
Many people view God as a distant cosmic deity, not caring about what is happening in our world. That is far from the truth. In Jesus, we see how He is personally aware of and concerned about every detail of our lives.
Jesus Himself said in Matthew 10:29-30: "Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground outside your Father’s care. And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered."
The Apostle Paul faced many times when he was in danger while serving the Lord. However, he never had to face fear alone. He experienced Jesus' presence and help. That moved him to write this beautiful reminder in Romans 8:38-39: "For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord."
Jesus' awareness and concern for individuals continue today.
Let us praise Him for it! It's amazing -- The great God of the universe has come near in human flesh to love people individually.
Jesus, thank you for knowing us personally by name and for allowing each of us to know you!
We have a big day at FCC coming up on Sunday, December 21st!
Our Associate Minister, Rafaelito Fraden, has been working hard on our Christmas Cantata that will take place during our morning worship, starting at 10:30 am. Our Candlelight Service is also scheduled for Sunday, December 21st (starting at 6:30 pm).
I hope and pray you have a great weekend and that we'll see you at FCC this Sunday!
God Bless,
Greg H.
