Great Accomplishments

Hello, and I pray you've had a good week!
Happy Good Friday to you! Today is the day we honor what Jesus did on the cross of Calvary!
On a day like today, nearly 2,000 years ago, Jesus suffered and died a painful death on a cross.
Not only would Jesus have physical pain, but He would also have to deal with betrayal by friends and the plotting and insults from enemies.
I can't help but think of Jesus when reading what David said in Psalms 38:11-12 (NIV): "My friends and companions avoid me because of my wounds; my neighbors stay far away. Those who want to kill me set their traps, those who would harm me talk of my ruin; all day long they scheme and lie."
The difference is that David acknowledges his sin to God in this Psalm. Jesus, on the other hand, did not sin.
In fact, the very reason Jesus was going through all of this anguish was that He came to TAKE OUR SINS ON HIMWow -- what an awesome Savior Jesus is!

There have been many great accomplishments throughout history.
Maybe you remember huddling around a TV set and watching Neil Armstrong take a step onto the surface of the Moon in 1969. That was a pretty amazing achievement. Armstrong is known for saying this about the feat: "That's one small step for a man, one giant leap for mankind."
People were in awe! Of course, others claim it was all a big hoax!
It's interesting to learn that fellow astronaut and moon walker, James Irwin, reportedly said, "Jesus walking on the earth is more important than man walking on the moon."
Jesus did some amazing things during his ministry on earth. He healed various illnesses, drove impure spirits from people, and also caused the blind to see, the dead to hear, and the lame to walk!
Luke 5:26 says that when Jesus healed a paralyzed man"Everyone was amazed and gave praise to God. They were filled with awe and said, 'We have seen remarkable things today.' "
But the most amazing thing about the miracle was NOT the man being physically restored.
Luke 5:20 says that when Jesus saw the great faith of the paralyzed man and his friends, he said, "Friend, your sins are forgiven."
We can thank Jesus for His death and resurrection. It's because of this that we can be forgiven and have eternal life. As we approach Easter, may the events of the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus fill us all with awe and amazement.
