Happy Reformation Day!
October 31, 2025, 3:00 PM
Greetings in Christ on this Friday, the last day of October. I pray you've had a good week.
Did you know that today is a significant day to celebrate? It's probably not the one you are thinking of. Today (October 31st) is Reformation Day!
A German monk and theologian named Martin Luther had become frustrated with the abuses of the church in his day. On October 31, 1517, he took his proposals for change and nailed them on the doors of a church. We still feel the effects today as the revolution Luther began helped to restore the church to look more like the church of the New Testament!
As for the other holiday we celebrate today -- Happy Halloween! Don't eat too much of the candy intended for the kids!

In Jesus' earthly ministry, He often met physical needs by feeding the multitudes. Jesus, however, came to do more than just good social work. He gives more than just bread and water to help our physical hunger.
After He fed the 5,000 at the start of the 6th chapter of the gospel of John, the chapter finishes with Jesus saying, "I AM the Bread of Life" that will satisfy. In the 4th chapter of John, Jesus said that He has Living Water that will truly satisfy forever. In talking with the Samaritan woman at a well near Sychar, Jesus said in John 4:13-14“Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.”
Don't be TRICKED by Satan's schemes that the things of this world will truly satisfy. The real TREAT is Jesus and the eternal life only He can offer!

As the new month approaches, I'm declaring this will be a "NOVEMBER to REMEMBER" at First Christian Church.
We will kick off the month tomorrow (Saturday, November 1st) with a Meal Packing event at FCC sponsored by Barbara Rendel and Scatter Joy MinistriesWe'll be partnering with Big Hill Christian Church in Richmond, KY, and some other volunteers as we pack 25,000 meals for children in Liberia, Africa.
In fact, we have some very special Sundays lined up for November. Stay tuned for more details!

This coming Sunday, November 2nd, I will continue in our sermon series called “IDENTITY CRISIS.” We will be talking about the church as the "Body of Christ." I hope and pray we will see you there! Don't forget to set your clocks BACK ONE HOUR to observe daylight savings time!

Until then...

God Bless,
Greg H.
