Jesus is the ONE and ONLY
January 31, 2025, 3:00 PM
Greetings in Christ! I hope and pray all is going well for you and your family!
What a blessing it's been to have some warmer temperatures over the past few days. It even reached north of 60 degrees outside today (01.31.25)! It's been so nice not having to scrape ice off car windshields in the morning!
Things are going great at First Chrisitan Church as January winds down.

Last Sunday (01.26.25), we finally had decent weather and had a great service with just over 90 folks in attendance!
On Wednesday night (01.29.25), we had the most people ever for one of our mid-week gatherings with 58 in attendance! Also that night, the female-only, student-led group called Delight Ministries kicked off their first Bible study of the new semester at our building with around 35 students.

Another exciting development was relayed to me this week by Melinda Cobb our church's Office Administrator. The fraternity next door to the church building, Delta Tau Delta, has been renting space inside the church for the past 15 years. This week, one of the student leaders of the fraternity reached out to Melinda and expressed interest in allowing them to host a Bible study at FCC! Wow, what a blessing! Thank you, Melinda, for working with them and praying for a ministry opportunity for 15 years!

Interesting fact: Did you know the first chapter of Delta Tau Delta was formed in 1858 at Bethany College in West Virginia (Virginia in 1858)? What is so significant about that? Bethany College was founded by Alexander Campbell, one of the main figures in the Restoration Movement that FCC came out of! Of the original eight members of the Delta Tau Delta fraternity, two of them would go and become ministers in the Chrisitan Church.
I can see God moving and causing great things to happen on the University of KY campus and at FCC. I hope and pray you are getting involved!
Stay tuned. We will be rolling about a bunch of service opportunities very soon.

In Matthew 17, Jesus is transfigured in front of Peter, James, and John.
We're told Moses and Elijah are also present. This causes Peter to speak up (no shock) and offer the idea of building three shrines to commemorate the event.
At this point, the disciples were still trying to figure out just who Jesus was and is. In the end, however, there was ONLY JESUS (Matthew 17:8).
Many things are competing for the TOP SPOT in our hearts. Some are GOOD THINGS but not the BEST. There is ROOM for only ONE and Jesus will not accept SECOND PLACE in our hearts.
He doesn't want to be FIRST PLACE out of MANY. He asks to be our ONE and ONLY! It's quite a challenge.
I pray we all strive to make Jesus the ONE and ONLY on the throne of our hearts!

God bless and have a great weekend. I hope and pray to see you on Sunday at FCC!

In Him,
Greg H.
