Greetings in Christ!
The family and I are back from vacation in sunny Florida.
Autumn (my daughter) and Josh Boes had their wedding ceremony on the beach in Siesta Key, FL, on (06.07.25). It went very well.
The rest of the family stayed the next week for some vacation time. Kelly and I got back to Lexington last Friday (06.13.25).
This week, I've been trying to get back in the swing of things!
Almost everyone I've ever known wants to live a long time.
People, however, have different reasons for wanting to live a long life.
Some may want to take their retirement and enjoy the fruits of their careers. Others may want to see their children and grandchildren grow up and do well in life.
Truth be told, many just don't want to die! When someone says, "I don't know if I'd want to live to be 100 years old," my friend Joe Cooper likes to reply, "You would if you were 99 years old!"
The author of the 71st Psalm has the most noble reason for wanting to live a long life. Listen to Psalms 71:14-18...
As for me, I will always have hope; I will praise you more and more.
My mouth will tell of your righteous deeds, of your saving acts all day long -- though I know not how to relate them all.
I will come and proclaim your mighty acts, Sovereign Lord; I will proclaim your righteous deeds, yours alone.
Since my youth, God, you have taught me, and to this day I declare your marvelous deeds.
Even when I am old and gray, do not forsake me, my God, till I declare your power to the next generation, your mighty acts to all who are to come.
The writer desired more time to declare the greatness of God’s power — to tell the stories of God’s faithfulness to the younger people around him.
My hope and prayer is that we would all want to testify to God's greatness every day of our lives. I pray that He will give us the energy to labor for Him until the day He brings each of us home.
Children matter to God, and they are a very important part of the church. They are the church of the future.
Here at FCC, we presently do not have very many young people. That is a major concern.
We are, however, trying to address the problem.
In fact, over the next few days, we will have several great opportunities to share with young people.
On Saturday, June 21st, we will have a kickoff for Vacation Bible School from 11 am - 1 pm at the church.
Following that event, our VBS will then be held from 6:30-8:30 pm from Monday, June 23rd through Thursday, June 26th.
This is for 3 year olds up to young people going into the 5th grade!
Here's how you can be of help:
1) PRAY. Ask God to bring some children our way who are seeking to know the Lord!
2) INVITE someone to attend. You can register on our website - www.fcclexky.com. Please also share on social media!
3) ATTEND. We have our staff in place, but volunteers are always needed for cleanup, etc. There will also be an adult class offered!
4) PRAY some more !!! Please know that it's been at least six years since we've done a VBS at FCC. Therefore, this is a major step for us!
I'm looking forward to this coming Sunday, June 22nd, at FCC.
During our 10:30 morning worship, we will recognize our recent graduates and have a baby dedication time as well!
And don't forget to return the baby bottles for Assurance. There is still time to turn those in.
I hope and pray we'll see you soon!
God Bless,
Greg H.
