Seeing Above the Crowd
May 23, 2025, 11:00 AM
Greetings in Christ. I pray you've had a great week and start to the Memorial Day weekend!
In Luke's gospel, we find a man named Zaccheaus trying to see Jesus. When he heard Jesus was near, he had to climb a sycamore tree in order to see Jesus as He passed by.
Scripture tells us that Zaccheaus, being short in stature, could not see because of the crowd.
I wonder how often Jesus is not able to be seen because of the "crowd"?
When we as followers of Jesus do not reflect the true nature of our Lord and Savior, we give people the wrong picture. May we as God's people or the "Church Crowd" never block someone else from seeing the real Jesus.
After all, Jesus' real mission was to "SEEK and SAVE the LOST."
Let's make that our mission as well!

This coming Sunday (05.25.25), I will be continuing our sermons on God's idea for the family, "Ancient Values for Modern Families." The message for Sunday will be "Marriage Matters."
I believe this is an important subject because marriage and family are two of the foundational building blocks God has for community.

That being said, marriages are in great distress today in America. Research and studies tell us about 50% of all marriages in the United States will end in divorce. Sadly, the data shows there is little difference between Christian and non-Christian couples.
Many people today are questioning if marriage is even necessary or needed. More and more people are choosing to remain single, and more than half of Americans surveyed said that getting married wasn’t an important part of becoming an adult, according to a 2017 Census Bureau report.

In addition, there have been several attempts at redefining marriage to include same sex couples. This is a difficult time for the institution of marriage. What are God's people to do?

I strongly believe that part of our mission as the church is to not only seek and save lost individuals, but, in the process, help build up and restore marriages. If we the church do not do this, who will?

God Bless, have a great Memorial Day weekend, and I look forward to seeing you at FCC on Sunday!

In Him,
Greg H.
