Greetings in Christ! I hope and pray you've had a good week.
I also hope and pray you had a good 4th of July weekend.
No matter how good a vacation, holiday, or weekend is, there's always a Monday morning! The good times will eventually end, and we will come back to the mundane work week.
There is, however, a time coming when the good times will NEVER end. I'm talking about HEAVEN -- the eternal home for the disciples of Christ.
I love the descriptions John gives in Revelation of the tree of life and the river running through that great city!
Revelation 22:1-2 says, "Then the angel showed me the river of the water of life, as clear as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb down the middle of the great street of the city. On each side of the river stood the tree of life, bearing twelve crops of fruit, yielding its fruit every month. And the leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations."
And think about this...
Since His ascension, Jesus has been preparing this wonderful place for all of his people who will dwell with him and bask in his glory forever.
Remember what Jesus told His disciples in John 14:2-3, "My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am."
Jesus, we thank you for preparing a wonderful, magnificent place for us with you in paradise. Amen!
I'll be starting a new series of sermons this Sunday (07.13.25) at First Christian Church.
For six weeks this summer, we'll be looking at "finding Jesus throughout the Old Testament," in a series called "The Son Shining Through."
Many people believe that Jesus does not appear in the Bible until His birth, recorded in the New Testament. However, Jesus, the Son of God and God’s promised Messiah, is not limited only to the New Testament. He's found throughout the entire Bible!
While not mentioned by name, Jesus can be found all over the Old Testament. In fact, Jesus Christ is THE theme of both the Old and New Testaments.
We'll begin the series by looking at the account of creation found in Genesis and how Jesus is involved.
My prayer is that these messages will deepen your understanding of scripture as well as enable you to see Jesus for who He truly is!
I hope and pray we'll see you this Sunday at FCC!
God Bless,
Greg H.
